Superintendent - Raw Material & Product Trade

Key Responsibilities

  • Raw Material Sourcing (DRC Operations)
  • Identify and develop suppliers for copper oxide ore, sulphide ore, and copper concentrates; establish and manage long-term off-take agreements.
  • Design precise procurement schemes based on LME/MB benchmark prices, utilizing complex models including TC/RCs, grade discounts, and impurity penalties.
  • Oversee on-site sampling, assaying supervision, and moisture/transport loss control to ensure the security and accuracy of "grade-weight" assets.
  • Finished Product Sales Execution & Coordination
  • Collaborate with the Group Marketing Team to manage the delivery of cathode copper, hydroxide cobalt, and scraps.
  • Coordinate with processing, warehousing, logistics, and customs departments to ensure seamless export operations.
  • Resolve emergencies or discrepancies arising during the export and delivery of finished products.
  • Compliance, Sourcing & Market Intelligence
  • Execute OECD Due Diligence for Responsible Supply Chains to ensure all mineral sources are compliant and fully traceable.
  • Monitor and report on DRC local ore coefficients, competitor activities, and changes in export policies to support strategic decision-making.

Skills

  • Proficiency in calculating raw material costs and smelting recovery rates based on mineral physical-chemical indices.
  • Expert knowledge of International Trade Terms (Incoterms 2020) and international settlement/LC processes.
  • Sets high standards for teamwork.
  • Provides advice and practical support for internal and external relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin for reporting. French is required for business negotiations and legal contract reviews.

Knowledge

  • Comprehensive understanding of copper/cobalt pricing logic (LME/MB) and global trade compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with project management dimensions (cost, risk, and stakeholder management).

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in mineral trading, bulk commodity procurement, or commercial roles within smelting enterprises
  • Prior experience with internationally recognized trading houses is highly preferred.
  • Preferred Deep understanding of the DRC market with local operational experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in International Trade, Mining Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • A valid driving license is required for mine site travel.
