Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia. The mine is a deep, sub-level open stoping operation with complex mining conditions.
The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania’s largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.
It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.
The mine has a strong future, with extensive exploration activities which have continued to grow the resource and require mine planning beyond 10 years of continued operation.
Services Supervisor – Mining
Reporting to the Mining Superintendent, the role of Services Supervisor - Mining is to manage the day-to-day operations as planned of underground services and civil works.
This role will see you planning and coordinating the implementation of underground mine activities required for optimal mine development and production activities, whilst being cost effective and upholding high quality safety standards in-line with relevant statutory obligations.
This position is offered on a 7:7 (dayshift only) roster DIDO or Residential to Rosebery
Responsibilities Include (however not limited to):
- Provide leadership and consistency for installation and maintenance of services infrastructure
- Manage the installation and maintenance of mine services (air, water, drainage, ventilation) and dewatering (including upper level water flows).
- Oversee and report on the remnant pillar grouting program.
- Control and schedule ad-hoc civil construction projects on surface and underground including fan installation and vent wall construction.
- Ensure installation standards of services adhere to site requirements.
- Oversee the management of the magazine including stock accounting, refuge chamber servicing and maintenance.
- Monitors task progress and ensures adherence to plans.
- Plan and control priorities to achieve associated support activities in accordance with weekly schedule requirements using appropriate management systems.
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of current mine schedules and an awareness of the current critical issues to achieving plan targets.
- Understand cost drivers in the mining operations section and seek improvement in unit cost performance.
- Monitor performance and report the cause of all variances that prevent the services and shift plan from being achieved and produce actions to rectify.
- Provide skill development and succession planning of shift personnel to ensure the long term schedule requirements are met.
- Create a safe work culture by believing in and promoting Creating Safe Work and safe work practices.

About You
An unwavering commitment to safe work practices with demonstrate safe behaviour at all times and comply with the site’s standards and procedures.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an underground mine with 12 months supervisory experience
- Strong communication and organisational capability with proven leadership capabilities to drive continuous improvement within a safe and productive work environment
- Review and coordinate the update of procedures and systems to ensure consistency of team activities and the efficiency of future projects.
- Ensure timely resolution of issues through facilitating regular communication and reviews with and across project teams where necessary.
- Scope projects, assign priorities and set tasks for direct reports to maintain workload equity whilst ensuring individual professional diversity and continued learning exists in meeting long and short term organisational objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and statutory requirements in order to minimise the companies risk exposure and liabilities.
- Understanding of relevant Mine legislation, OH&S principles and HR/IR Principles
- A manual C Class driver’s license
- First aid certificate – Desirable
- Ability to pass a Police Clearance, Pre employment Medical and DAS.
