Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia. The mine is a deep, sub-level open stoping operation with complex mining conditions.
The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania’s largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.
It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.
The mine has a strong future, with extensive exploration activities which have continued to grow the resource and require mine planning beyond 10 years of continued operation.
Loader Operator
Reporting to the Underground Shift Supervisor you will ensure that all aspects of operations are carried out safely and efficiently in accordance with Company and Legislative standards and procedures.
This is a permanent position offered on a 7:7 roster.
Responsibilities include (however not limited to):
- Conducting pre-start inspections of loader and work environment.
- Washing down work areas (from end of vent ducting to face in freshly blasted development headings).
- Bogging of production and development areas.
- Generally operating loader in manual and sometimes operating loader in remote (acting up)
- Monitoring the operational control panel in line with safe working practices / operating of the machine.
- Following all daily shift plans and scheduled targets.
- Loading haul trucks (trucking).
- Communicating with Jumbo Operators to establish when/if clean ups are required and other members of the Underground operation
- Keep accurate records of activities in accordance with established standards.
About You:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role with at least 1 year of experience operating a Caterpillar 2900 Loader
- Experience with working in production and development crews or operating in this environment with an extensive knowledge off underground mining equipment and techniques.
- Ability to communicate clearly and conduct detailed handovers with supervisors, cross shift and other relevant departments.
- A willingness to partake in Pre-Employment Medical and D&A Screen and Background checks.
- A manual C Class driver’s license.
- First aid certificate – desirable.
- Working at Heights Certificate - desirable
