Dugald River mine is one of the world’s top 10 Zinc mine operations, which has been producing zinc concentrate for customers around the world since 2017.
The mine is committed to a low-carbon future. In April 2023 the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mine’s power, and reducing emissions by 33% and this is just the start of its renewable energy transition.
Dugald River employs around 750 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis.
Advisor – Environment
Are you an enthusiastic environmental professional with a can-do attitude and a passion for making a difference? The Dugald River Mine is seeking a team member to join our dynamic Environment Team as we tackle climate change, embrace renewable energy, and expand our operations sustainably.
This role will be based on an 8/6, drive-in drive-out (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mt Isa or fly-in fly-out (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane.
The Role:
In this role, you'll play a key part in supporting our environmental goals. You'll be involved in various activities, including:
- Environmental sample collection (surface water, groundwater, air, sediment), results analysis/interpretation and drafting regulator correspondence (if required).
- Hiring and onboarding environmental consultants, reviewing their deliverables, and processing billing.
- Project management of environmental initiatives/improvements and delivering high-quality work.
- Collecting data for NGERS, NPI and Sustainability reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Law or relevant experience.
- Class C Driver’s Licence (Manual) with 4WD experience highly desirable.
We are looking for someone with:
- Experience in environmental sampling, results analysis, and reporting.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and time management skills.
- Drone licence or interest in obtaining one.
- Broad understanding of mining and minerals processing and the potential environmental impacts relating to these practices.
- (Optional but desirable) Experience preparing applications or supporting material for Environmental Authority amendments, Estimated Rehabilitation Costs or Annual Returns.
- (Optional but desirable) Experience with ArcGIS.
