MMG Rosebery
Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia. The mine is a deep, sub-level open stoping operation with complex mining conditions.
The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania’s largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.
It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.
The mine has a strong future, with extensive exploration activities which have continued to grow the resource and require mine planning beyond 10 years of continued operation.
MMG Rosebery has an office in Burnie (Tasmania), giving employees the flexibility to work from there when they are not required onsite.
Senior Production Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Senior Production Engineer to lead our team of Underground Short-Term Schedulers and Drill & Blast Engineers. In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for strategically planning daily and weekly underground mining operations, ensuring alignment with our long-term objectives.
As the Senior Production Engineer, you will have full accountability for the Drill & Blast and Short-Term Scheduling teams, working closely with operational departments to optimize performance. Reporting directly to the Mine Technical Services Manager, you'll collaborate with a range of stakeholders, provide technical expertise, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and achieve key production targets.

Competencies, qualifications and skills:
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or similar degree supported by experience in mine planning.
- Significant practical experience with underground mining methods.
- Drill and blast and short term scheduling experience in underground mining.
- Sound understanding of underground mine ventilation, geotechnical and mine geology.
- Essential to the role is your hands-on experience with Deswik.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to contribute and work effectively in a team.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Demonstrate leadership and accountability by continuously monitoring and evaluating mine performance, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to enhance operational efficiency and safety while adhering to regulatory requirements.
- Lead and co-ordinate drill & blast designs for the mining engineers in line with the weekly plan.
- Providing guidance and coaching to the Scheduling Engineers.
- Main point of contact to the Underground Mine Superintendent for planning and executing the weekly plan and holding the technical team accountable.
- Responsible for managing stope reconciliation, highlighting areas of risk and opportunities.
